Welcome to the Center for Astroparticle Physics

The Gran Sasso Center for Astroparticle Physics (CFA) is a web of research instutues having the Gran Sasso National Laboratory (LNGS) as the net center.

The CFA promotes the research in the fields of Astroparticle Physics,  Neutrino Physics, Dark Matter, High Energy Astrophysics and Gravitational Waves.

The CFA is part of the POR Abruzzo "La società della conoscenza".

Activities

Hot Topics in Astroparticle Physics
Sept 14-26, 2015

A series of lectures on fundamental problems of Particle and Astroparticle Physics. Lectures will cover a wide spectrum of hot problems starting from the precision physics in the Standard Model and new physics beyond the Standard Model, Gravity, Cosmology and High Energy Cosmic Messengers

Lectures on Magnetar
Sept 15-16, 2015

A magnetar is a type of neutron star with an extremely powerful magnetic field. The magnetic field decay powers the emission of high-energy electromagnetic radiation, particularly X-rays and gamma rays. The magnetar hypothesis has become widely accepted as a likely explanation for soft gamma repeaters(SGRs) and anomalous X-ray pulsars (AXPs).
